The Devil Wears a Suit – a zombie music video you have to see!

Have you heard this chart-topping Australian singer songwriter named Kate Miller-Heidke?

Here is The Devil Wears a Suit with lyrics. I love this video. It’s like watching a silent old school horror flick! Awesome! The zombies are a nice touch.

Kate Miller-Heidke released Nightflight, her first solo album in two years, last month. Kate will be touring with Ben Folds Five in the fall.

Here is her titled track Nightflight but it includes how it was made. I love videos that show some behind the scenes footage.

You can click here to be taken to her YouTube Channel and subscribe.

Here is the Nightflight music video with lyrics:

Here is Sarah with lyrics. I love it when videos have the lyrics included. That way I have a deeper understanding of the song, most the time without the lyrics I’m not sure I fully listen.

She has so many more amazing YouTube videos uploaded to her channel! You really need to check them all out. They are angelic and melodic, 41 in all!

Here you can listen to Ride This Feeling

Kate Miller-Heidke | Livestream Session + Q&A

More on Kate Miller-Heidke:

On the heels of her successful 2010/2011 US and European tours opening for Ben Folds, and critically acclaimed performances at SXSW, Coachella and Lilith Fair to support the release of her US debut CD, Curiouser, chart-topping Australian singer songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke released Nightflight, her first solo album in two years, in the US on June 19th.

Written between the frenetic jolt of London and the sleepy backwaters of Toowoomba (which was hit by deadly floods in 2011), Nightflight showcases songs about real people’s lives: family members who have died, teenagers who went missing in the ’90s, friends looking for love in the wrong places and Kate’s own longing for home. In previous albums, Kate has immersed herself in high cabaret drama, polished electro-pop and heart-arresting ballads. With Nightflight, her mission was simple: to focus on the craft of pure human storytelling with clear-eyed clarity.

The record was produced by her collaborator/husband Keir Nuttall with Lindsay Gravina (Rowland S. Howard, Mick Harvey, The Living End, Magic Dirt) in his Birdland studio in Prahran, Melbourne and mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Florence And The Machine, Kaiser Chiefs). Recorded over two months in Melbourne, Nighflight is made up of eleven songs in which we see Kate meditate on homesickness, mortality, love and surrender, in an album that is both sonically lush and emotionally stark, deeply personal and yet utterly panoramic.

Last Fall, Kate Miller-Heidke grabbed the attention of TV viewers and radio listeners in the New York area when her irresistibly catchy track, “Are You Ready?” (from the record Liberty Bell, created by her electronic side project), was used regularly for the NY Lottery campaigns.

In addition to her YouTube Channel she is on Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm. Check her out!

So what do you think? Is it someone you would go see in concert?

Renee Blair, half the story….

If you’re new here I want to bring your attention to a post I did a while back on Renee Blair. She overcame a terrible accident only to be stricken by another accident! Her mom left me this comment on my blog:

and this is only PART of the story……..the last video…she was playing guitar. She taught herself to do so while her jaw was wired shut. Well, 9 months after the car accident, finally feeling “normal” she went to the lake with a family for a kid’s birthday party. The father was taking everyone for tubing rides in his new boat/new toy. When my daughter was on it with my son and a man, the dad took them on a thrill ride ride. She was flipped off and her arm broke in half, bone shattered in 5 places. Today she has 13 inch plate with 15 screws. A man accidentally punched it cheering at Cardinal’s baseball game two weeks ago and she said she could feel a screw come out her skin and had a softball sized bruise. At a friend’s wedding someone asked “can’t you cover that thing up, it’s kind of hideous.” This being the scar that runs from her shoulder to her elbow and the part of the plate that you can literally see sticking out.

She has partial paralysis in her hand that is likely permanent. While unable to play guitar, she taught herself to play piano ONE handed.

Now she can play piano, play guitar and my song bird is singing again.

She’s an amazing girl, more lovely inside than out… She inspiring so many people with her resilience, determination and perseverance.

Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot to us.

A very grateful Momma Jules

Can you believe this??? Like this poor girl hasn’t been through enough! Help me lift her up!

Subscribe to her YouTube Channel and send her a tweet (tell her she’s amazing!). Listen to her songs and share them with your friends and family. Tell her story. We all need to come face to face with stories about overcoming the odds. I don’t know about you but it makes my small-time problems seem much easier to handle.

I don’t find her any less amazing after all that she’s endured. Just listen and you’ll see what I mean:

So there you have it Renee Blair. She’s determined as ever, and why shouldn’t she be?

Renee Blair Music Review – You gotta see this girl!

I have to show you this video. It definitely pulls on your heart strings:

First off, OMG! That car? Horrible! I was in a terrible wreck when I was 16. I was forced off the road and ended up flipping my truck 7 times. I was going 55mph on a road that was built higher and higher due to flooding, so when that old pickup truck crossed into my lane my back right tire hit something and popped sending me into a tailspin. Luckily I was fine, but this girl…Renee, was not. Not only did she fracture her jaw and hurt her wrist, but she is a singer! A damn good one at that! Her jaw and wrist are very much needed for a career in music. But she overcame the odds. Look at her in this video during her recovery, singing with her jaw wired shut:

Are you impressed yet? I sure as hell am. Here is her just 3 months ago, well on her way to a full recovery:

Here is a snippet from Renee herself:

“Hi, I’m Renee, I was told by many people in Nashville that country music is best defined as “3 chords and the truth”. I have been in a several accidents which left scars that indicate an experience I have gone through in lifeI like to define it as 3 scars and the truth. believe that every scar has a story and I have three significant scars each with it’s own miraculous story that I would like to share with you. No one ever wakes up and thinks that before the day ends they’ll be lying in a hospital, but it happens and when it does you get through it somehow. I found the strength to get through each obstacle as I would pray and about my love and passion for music. Each time I found myself in the recovery room, I prayed harder than I’d ever prayed that “If I get through this I will dedicate my life to helping the lives of others through my music.” I have desired to sing and play music longer than anything else I can remember. My happiest and most cherished memories have been while I’m singing and look up and happen to catch smiles on peoples faces, and when there’s a tear in their eye–that’s magical!”

She has a beautiful voice that just demands stardom. Help get her there! Share the word, share her videos on Facebook and Twitter. Raise her up and help her shine!

Music Review: Hurts

I have a new band to share with you!!! HURTS!!!

Happiness, the debut album by British duo Hurts is available now digitally in the U.S iTunes and Amazon stores. Following the release of Happiness, Hurts became the the fastest selling new UK band in the world, and have since clocked up more than 800,000 albums and more than 1 million singles worldwide. With Platinum albums in Germany, Poland, Finland, Switzerland and Russia, Gold in the UK and Austria, 800K Facebook followers and more than 43 million YouTube views, Hurts have well and truly arrived in the U.S. with style.
When I first listened to a few of their tracks I was reminded of music I liked and listened to in the early 90′s. It seems reminiscent of that decade in my opinion. It’s and easy listen and is sure to me liked by most everyone. Just give a listen to their video single “Happiness” and see what you think:

Justin Hines – Days to Recall CD Giveaway!

In the last few weeks I’ve had more and more time around the house to listen to some quality music. Well, I’ve actually had to make the effort, but it’s been well worth it. I try to listen when I’m cooking dinner instead of watching TV. My aunt said something to me years ago that really stuck with me.

“I don’t want to live my life in 30 minute segments.”

That hit home.

A few weeks ago I shared that I would be reviewing the Justin Hines CD – Days to recall.

He truly has an amazing story. If you didn’t read it in my last post, here it is again:

Hines has thrived all his life against odds that would daunt someone with a less indomitable spirit. Hines has Larsen Syndrome, a joint dislocation condition that confines him to a wheelchair. “The reality is I don’t really look at my situation as that big a deal,” he says. “We all have our things that challenge us, just some people’s are a little more visible in the forefront. Mine is very apparent, whereas others wear it on the inside.”

That natural optimism permeates much of his American debut, “Days to Recall,” (available now) the singer/songwriter’s collection of heartfelt songs about life and love. “I don’t want to pretend that dark times don’t exist, but I have a hard time leaving things negative,” he says. “I think every challenging situation leads to something better. When I’m writing I don’t do it consciously in the songs, it’s just how they evolve.”

Well guess what?!? I get to share some soul searching music with you! All I want from you is a comment. Tell me your current favorite artist, or why you want this CD, or what you think about his optimism! Share the love with Justin as well and connect with him on Facebook and Twitter! Give his album a listen on iTunes, buy the music and tell him what you appreciate about it!
Giveaway ends Sunday October 23rd by Midnight. Winner selected at random by random.org.

*Disclaimer: A CD was provided to me for review and one for giveaway on this blog. All opinions are my own.

Justin Hines – Days to Recall

Have you heard of this guy? I’ll be reviewing the CD in the next week or so, but I was so intrigued after reading his back story and how he came to be. You will be too!

There’s a moment in every artist’s life when he knows that music is not only his path, but his destiny.  Even though Justin Hines grew up singing in church at his grandmother’s behest, his realization came at the most unlikely of places— at a Toronto Raptors’ basketball game in his hometown 15 years ago. A then-14-year old Hines won a vocal competition to sing the National Anthem— both the Canadian and American— at the game and his world opened up before him. “In that moment, it all seemed possible,” he recalls. “The performance eliminated any stage fright.”

Wild Blessed Freedom

Want to check out a new album? Tired of your same old stuff yet?

Check out Carolina Liar! There new album is called WILD BLESSED FREEDOM. It’s set for a September 27th release.

Here’s the video single “Drown”

The video for “Drown,” the first single off of Wild Blessed Freedom recently premiered on VEVO. The album was recorded with producers Max Martin (Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Pink), Shellback (Usher, Ke$ha) and Tobias Karlsson at Maratone Studios in Stockholm and Thunderhoney Studios in Los Angeles. Wild Blessed Freedom is the follow up album to 2008’s Coming to Terms, which Rolling Stone hailed as “fusing the anthemic elements of U2 and the Killers with the electro production of Swedish pop maestro Max Martin.”
Carolina Liar’s music has been featured on TV shows such as The Vampire Diaries, American Idol, Gossip Girl and The Hills. The band toured extensively in support of their last album, sharing stages with the likes of One Republic, Rob Thomas and The Academy Is…  They also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and played themselves in an episode of 90210.

"Baby it’s cold outside."

I’ve got that song stuck in my head. I love it though. It reminds me of that movie Elf when Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel sing to each other when she’s in the shower. I had the chance to listen to Norah Jones’ new album …Featuring this week and that song is #4 on her new Album. There is no video but I found this on YouTube and had to share it.

Isn’t it a beautiful song? So anyways, I needed a winter hat. So I reached out to a reader named Gloria. She’s so very talented! Just check out her Crochet Album! My favorite was the Lime Rasta Hat. I asked her if she could make one to match my winter coat and here it is:

Isn’t it sweet! I am so happy with it! I washed it once already and it’s super soft. The fun with a slouchy hat is that it can be worn different ways. Super cute.

So give Gloria some kudos for her mad crocheting skills! Check out her blog too! Stay tuned for more fun stuff from Gloria!

…Featuring Norah Jones

When I received the new Norah Jones album from One2One Network I couldn’t wait to give it a listen. I can’t stand that my car doesn’t have a CD player, I’m old school bumping around with a tape deck. Anyways, my husband and I cracked it open and popped it in his car. We cranked it up load while we watched the kids play in the yard. It was lovely. I wanted to hear more so I took it to work. It’s perfect work music! Very melodic and relaxing. Her tunes are soothing and quite memorable.

Here is a little info about this new album “…Featuring”:

Norah Jones‘ new album, …Featuring, is a star-studded collection of the multi-platinum selling, multi-Grammy Award winning singer’s musical collaborations from the past decade.
The 18 songs on the album include cool cameos, collaborations and duets with such legends as Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton, and with 21st Century icons from OutKast to the Foo Fighters.
The tracks on …Featuring span Norah’s entire career and reveal her astonishing musical versatility, from jazz to country, hip-hop to rock.

I was away this past weekend to visit my best friend and I shared the album with her. She’s a huge fan! Even having a Norah Jones song played at her wedding. While I was away my super wonderful husband put into words what he felt about the new album:

I’ve heard of Norah Jones, although I didn’t know a whole lot about her music, her styling’s, or even the genre she adheres to for that matter. I guess that’s just it, as I sampled the tracks from her new album I began to realize that she doesn’t really have a genre. Unless you can consider very talented and prolific a genre.  I am under the impression that her track record is-well, already proven, so there is no need for me to suggest that she is a star in the making, I mean, I already missed that boat, but she does possess the confidence and efficacy of a proven star
At times she is sultry, and folkish, which in my opinion is difficult to pull off
From the sultry allure of ‘love me’ to the jazzy nightclub timbre of ‘baby its cold outside’ (playful and flirtatious)
The foo fighters never disappoint when they say goodnight
At times distant yet genuinely convincing, she sometimes seems like a daydream or a whisper
Between Andre’s funkadelic synthesis and Norah’s seductive plea for earnestness in ‘take off your cool’, a symbiotic calmness began to beckon to me (one that said, ‘hey dummy, you should have come away with me back in 2002.
She runs the gambit of style and versatility at times vulnerable and at other times confident and resilient
And little Lou is still hanging in there
Surely there cannot be ‘more than this’..

Isn’t that beautiful? He really has a way with words. I’m sure that’s one of his many qualities that won me over. He is completely right though, this album is amazing. You need to snatch it up! It was released today!

So if you want to stay in touch with all things Norah you can check out her website, subscribe to her YouTube channel, order her album on Amazon (for a low price of $9.99!), like her on Facebook, and follow her on Twitter.

*Disclaimer – I received the album from One2OneNetwork. My participation in this program makes me eligible to win one of five $50.00 gift cards. The opinion is my own. Well, mine and my husbands.
