Creating a Home Management Binder with Staples.

Just a few weeks ago I posted about creating a mini home management binder. Upon my trip to Staples this week I took pics of what they have so you can see just how easy it is to make one for yourself!

Here are the super cute small binders I bought. 9″ x 6″ for just $4.99.

As you can see they have a variety of tabbed dividers. I purchased 2 sets so I have a total of 10 categories. Just $1.99 for 5.

They also have plain solid ones with write-on tabs. The patterened tabs have stickers you put on the tabs, then you write on those.

So many of you have full sized Home Management Binders, and they have cute stylish ones for you too! They are just $6.99 for the Standard round closure, and $8.99 for the one that has a flat side.

The tabbed dividers for the full size binder is just $2.99. Those have 5 dividers, so you may need 2 or more.

These pockets are only available for the full size binders, but I wish they were available in the small size. I would fill these up in no time! Wish I had taken a picture of the price. I think it was just 2 or 3 bucks though. Not that much.

I’ve seen tutorials all over the web to create personalized clipboards for home organization, checklists, and teacher gifts. When I came across these at Staples for just $2.99 I knew this was more my speed. Then all I have to do is put some stickers on it for the Teacher’s name and maybe some ribbon and bling and voila! I like the decoupaged ones, but I’m just not that talented.

I don’t have a Target in my town and I know many of you have gotten your pretty binders there, but for me this works just fine! Show me a picture of your planner or Home Management binder, or just leave a link in the comments below. I’d love to check it out!

Creating a home management mini planner for on-the-go

I need to get organized. Ya feel me? I want a day planner but without spending the money on those refills. So I went to work creating my own small version of my Home Management Binder. I still refer to my old one, but I wanted something new, something different, something fashionable!

I found this little number at Staples. They had a few other cute designs in stock but I went with basic black/white with lime green. LOVE it!

Right next to them I found the cutest little tabbed dividers. I snatched up 2 sets. I may not use up all 10 tabs, but just in case, I bought them anyways. My first 5 tabs are:

  1. Calendar – my printable pages found on google
  2. Homemade Mom – my blog topics, current sponsors, giveaways, etc.
  3. Schedule – my daily schedule (I’m not referring to this like I thought I would)
  4. Menu Planning – my printable pages found on google
  5. Cleaning – a laminated cleaning checklist (not used as it should be)

I googled 5×7 printable calendars and finally found something simple that I liked. There were so many to choose from, but I went with simple. I find that when I have the planners that have designated sections for each family member, most of each day goes blank. I want to actually use the majority of each page. Otherwise why even do it?

Near the tabbed dividers I found small pocket folders. One pack contained 5 pockets. I have 3 in the Homemade Mom section so I can keep my papers for my product reviews all in one place. This is working great right now!

Blade Buddy

The next 5 sections include:

  1. to do – not really being utilized
  2. bills – not being utilized at all, this should be receipts
  3. gifts – when a family member mentions something they want I jot it down
  4. notes & ideas – random things that have no where else to go
  5. Side project that’s in the works (very secretive!)

My menu planner is one month all on one page. I really need to get my butt in gear and start planning. Most pages are still blank. I’m a work in progress.

I think I may need a coupons folder so I can those with me. I always have this in my purse.

Do you have a portable planner you take everywhere? What sections do you have?

My Afternoon Routine

Today I’m introducing “My Afternoon Routine”

My Afternoon Routine is geared to keep me on track.

I have set times to eat, handle dishes, naptime (for Cohen), exercise, pick up Camden and prepare dinner. I have yet to do everything on my list, but it is a goal for me to achieve someday. I try and exercise every day, but sometimes Cohen won’t go to sleep! They story time/flash cards time slot has yet to happen, but I really want to start reading to the boys more. If I stick to my routine I know I can get it all done!
My Fly List is basically just a list of “reminders” to fly through. I often forget to drink water, and seeing in on both pages really helps me to get started.
When it’s time to entertain the boys while I get started on Dinner I have lately been letting them just run around and play. They watch TV and fight and scream. Clearly this isn’t working. So here is my Table Activities list that I want to try and use every day. It would be ideal if the boys were at the table (in the kitchen) playing with each other quietly while I’m fixing dinner. I haven’t done this yet either, but I plan on starting.

So as you can see I have things planned out maybe too much. It doesn’t have to fall into the exact time slot, but having it planned out like this really helps me have a visual reminder for all the things that I’d like to get accomplished in one afternoon. If you have any questions or would like a copy of these pages just click on the following link:. I will be happy to share these with anyone. I created the files in Microsoft Publisher.

My Home Management Guide

I’ve been working on filling up my day planner with my morning, afternoon, and evening schedules. I thought I would share my progress with you all. Today I’m sharing my Morning Routine. I have printed out really pretty pages from Microsoft Publisher and covered them with contact paper. That way I can mark off the items I’ve completed with a dry erase marker. I’m so surprised at how much I get done now. For some reason having a visual reminder of what needs to be accomplished for the day actually inspires me to get it all done!!! I’m loving it! So here are some pictures. I’m happy to email anyone the publisher files if you want to make it your own. You could even resize them to fit an 8 1/2 x 11 binder.

Here is my Morning Routine laid out until lunch time:

It’s a simple visual reminder to make sure I did what I was supposed to do.This page is on the back of my fly list. It is what I plan on cleaning on a weekly basis.

I want to explain number 10 on the fly list: “Where are your shoes?” It’s a little known fact that if you dress to shoes you will be more likely to get off your butt and get things done. For some reason if you are at home barefoot or in socks/slippers you are more likely to loaf around. That will make you less effective. So when you get up in the morning it’s advised that you dress to shoes and do your hair and makeup first thing in the morning! That fly list just reminds me that if I haven’t already put shoes on, I need to do it NOW!

I found a file sharing website where I uploaded all my current day planner pages. The link is: http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/show.php?i=271042&cat=1
I hope that link works. If not, please let me know.
